FINAL OUTCOME: An explanatory poster that communicates the self-retaining surgical retractor’s properties and function.

I chose to illustrate a self-retaining surgical retractor because of its fascinating, complex shape and its use in many types of surgeries. The advantages of using Adobe Illustrator to create illustrations is that it allows the user to create vector graphics, meaning the final image produced can be scaled to any size without losing its quality or overall resolution.

Whilst looking carefully where the light hits the instrument, the Live Paint and Gradient tools were used to complete the colour, reflections and shading of the illustrated instrument.
